Choirs
SCCS serves as an umbrella organization for three ongoing choirs, and for a festive holiday ensemble,
as well as sponsoring choral collaborations with the Santa Rosa Symphony and periodic international concert tours. Click below on a choir's name for further information, auditions, concerts, files and slideshows pertaining to that group.
| SSU Chamber Singers | The Sonoma State University Chamber Singers (Music 323) is an ensemble of 20-25 singers dedicated
to the performance of Medieval, Renaissance, early Baroque and contemporary music. |
| Sonoma County Bach Choir | The Sonoma County Bach Choir (Music 324) is a group of 50-60 singers specializing in the music of the
Baroque period, with special emphasis on Johann Sebastian Bach.
In the fall of 2006, we performed Monteverdi's great 1610 Vespers in a collaboration with the Santa Rosa Symphony, and in the spring of 2007, we prepared an all-Handel program, including Dixit Dominus (1707) and two of the eleven anthems he composed for the Duke of Chandos, The Lord is my light and My song shall be alway. In the fall of 2007, we performed the Verdi Requiem with the Santa Rosa Symphony, and in spring 2008, we're preparing the Bach B Minor Mass, again for performance with the Santa Rosa Symphony. |
| SSU Chorus | The Sonoma State University Chorus is an ensemble of 75-100 singers which performs a broad range of repertoire,
including choral-orchestral pieces, a cappella music of all periods,
and special thematic projects. |
| Holiday Singers | The Holiday Singers is a group of varying size which provides festive musical entertainment during the Winter holiday season. Members are drawn from the Sonoma County Bach Choir and the SSU Chamber Singers. |
